A Meaningful Send-Off: Custom Retirement Plaques Now Made In-House

Starting in 2025, Rogue Community College introduced a new and meaningful way to recognize retiring employees. Instead of buying gifts from outside vendors, RCC now creates custom-designed retirement plaques in-house. This change not only celebrates the dedication of our long-serving employees but also supports RCC’s mission and values.

Mike Bullard and Chuck Thomas from the Manufacturing department brought Steven Swift’s vision to life.

The plaques were conceptualized by Steven Swift from the Visual Arts and Design program. The physical production was a collaborative effort involving Mike Bullard and Chuck Thomas from the Manufacturing program, who sourced materials and brought the design to life. The result is a uniquely crafted symbol of appreciation, rooted in the creativity and skill of RCC’s academic programs and personnel. This shift toward internally created retirement gifts is more than a change in practice, it is a reflection of RCC’s values. It bridges creative expression, technical expertise and institutional recognition, leaving a legacy that is personal to the honorees and emblematic of RCC’s mission to enrich and elevate the college community.
