RCC Theater Arts Returns with Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona

JACKSON AND JOSEPHINE COUNTIES (May 9, 2025) — After more than five years, the Theater Arts Program at Rogue Community College (RCC) is back, presenting its first mainstage production this spring: William Shakespeare’s “Two Gentlemen of Verona,” translated in modern verse by Amelia Roper.

Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. May 30, May 31, June 6 and June 7, with matinee showings at 2 p.m. on June 1 and June 8. All performances will be held in the Rogue Auditorium at the RCC Redwood Campus, located at 3345 Redwood Highway in Grants Pass. General admission tickets are $20, $10 for students and can be purchased at the door.

One of Shakespeare’s earliest comedies, the play explores friendship, love and betrayal with humor and heart. Roper’s modern translation maintains the original storyline while making the language more accessible for contemporary audiences.

“Bringing live theater back to RCC is an exciting step forward,” said Waylon Lenk, adjunct faculty in the Theater Arts Department. “This production is about more than reviving a program—it’s about building a creative community where students and audiences can experience the power of storytelling together.”
