Reason: I am delighted to submit an Osprey Ovation for Roz Mendoza in recognition of her outstanding collaboration, courage, sustainability and innovation. Roz has significantly transformed how our institution identifies, tracks and responds to suspected Bots and Bad Actors (BADA), demonstrating exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to safeguarding RCC’s systems and students. Roz recognized that our previous BADA reporting process was cumbersome, inconsistent and time-intensive, often making it difficult for staff to determine what outreach had occurred, which documentation had been requested or which department was leading the response. With courage and initiative, she stepped forward to address an issue that impacted multiple teams and had far-reaching implications for institutional integrity and student security.
Through her innovative vision, Roz designed and implemented a streamlined Smartsheet-based reporting and tracking system that has fundamentally improved our workflow. This new process brings clarity, automation and transparency to every stage of the response — ensuring that communication flows to the correct departments, statuses are accurately tracked, and appropriate outreach happens without delay or confusion. Thanks to Roz’s thoughtful stewardship, the system now works seamlessly in the background, reducing manual workload, closing communication gaps and eliminating the need for staff to rely on individual reminders or ad-hoc tracking methods. Most notably, since the launch of this system, there have been no reported concerns from stakeholders, a testament to the effectiveness, reliability and user-friendliness of Roz’s solution. Her work has strengthened interdepartmental coordination, protected the integrity of RCC processes, and empowered staff with a clearer, more efficient tool for managing potential BADA cases. Roz’s initiative exemplifies the best of RCC: the courage to confront challenges, the stewardship to protect our community and the innovation to build something better. Her contributions have made a meaningful and lasting impact.

Reason: I sincerely appreciate Mikala for speaking up regarding the generalist position that is being discussed in Rogue Central. It’s not always easy to share input, especially in front of a group, regardless of whether people agree or disagree with you and whether you feel like you’re truly being heard or not. Mikala is awesome and truly has everyone’s best interests in mind. I value her presence and contributions to RCC!
