Did you know that many RCC web pages have a short URL (also called a redirect) that makes sharing links easier and more effective?
For example, instead of using a lengthy web address like: www.roguecc.edu/contact/departments-and-offices-directory/marketing-and-communications/index.php …
you can simply share: www.roguecc.edu/marketing!
Short URLs are easier to remember, easier to type, and provide a cleaner, more professional experience in email signatures, printed materials, presentations, social media posts and other communications.
Why Use Short URLs?
Short URLs help:
- Create cleaner email signatures.
- Make flyers, posters, and printed materials easier to read.
- Reduce typing errors.
- Improve the user experience for students, employees and community members.
- Provide memorable web addresses that are easier to share and promote.
Where Should You Update Your Links?
If your department or program has a short URL, we encourage you to use it whenever appropriate and update existing materials, including:
- Email signatures
- myRogue directory listings
- Flyers and brochures
- Posters and event materials
- Presentations
- Marketing and recruitment materials
- Internal documentation where public-facing links are shared
Not Sure if Your Department Has a Short URL?
We’ve put together a shared list of RCC short URLs (.xls) for easy reference. Before requesting a new redirect, check the list to see if one already exists for your department, program, service or event.
You can also try entering what seems most logical after www.roguecc.edu/ as many common department and service redirects are already in place.
If you don’t find what you’re looking for, contact Elizabeth Butler via email or Teams, and we’ll be happy to help create one.
A Note for Academic Departments
Short URLs for academic departments are currently directing visitors to the Guided Pathway that the department lives under, rather than a department office page or directory listing.
Please Update Old Links When You Can
While many older website URLs may still work through redirects, we’d prefer not to rely on that functionality more than necessary. As the RCC website continues to evolve, updating your materials to use the current website structure and approved short URLs, helps ensure visitors reach the right content while reducing the need for ongoing redirect maintenance.
When updating signatures, directory listings, webpages, forms, flyers or other materials, please replace outdated links with the current URL or the appropriate RCC short URL whenever possible.
