Brought to you by the Faculty Fireside Chat
The Faculty Fireside Chat group started meeting informally in winter term, one year ago, to discuss the impacts that faculty were seeing in their classrooms as a result of generative artificial intelligence (genAI). Since then, this group of dedicated folx has worked on several projects to heighten awareness of artificial intelligence as it relates to teaching and learning in the classroom.
From Academic Integrity to Zen in Grading, we have discussed a range of topics about what we are seeing, and more importantly, how faculty can actively respond to this latest educational disruption/innovation.
Members of the Fireside Chat have also accomplished the following:
- Updated the Academic Integrity Administrative Procedure, AP 4221
- Presented on several genAI topics at spring and fall inservice days
- Facilitated a student panel on AI at the Teaching & Learning Inservice
- Created an AI Toolkit for faculty (please check out the many resources!)
- Read and discussed Teaching with AI and Co-Intelligence: Living & Working with AI
- Created Teaching with AI: Faculty Lab (please check out the many resources!)
- Attended GenAI Literacy Trainer Essentials Course (a Train-the-Trainer Institute)
- Awarded an AI microgrant
- And more!
For winter 2026, the Faculty Fireside Chat group would like to introduce a new series on Artificial Intelligence in the Rogue Report, that we are calling “AI Corner.” This is intended to be an informal way to extend AI knowledge for our campus community by introducing new AI tools, discussing AI concepts and extending the AI conversation for the classroom – and beyond! So stay tuned for more.
And, if you are interested in adding an article to the AI Corner or joining our informal Faculty Fireside Chats, please contact Nate Madrone via email to get on the AI Corner rotation!
