Join us in recognizing our November recipients!
Name: Alesha Ferrar
Core Values: Collaboration; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Reason: I would like to recognize Alesha Ferrar for her continued dedication to her job and to the student employees that she oversees. Alesha’s compassion, understanding and positive attitude are such a necessary part of being a leader. Alesha exemplifies what it means to be here at RCC. She works so hard, and she is constantly putting out proverbial fires all over campus. She is a cornerstone at RVC and we would be lost without her. Alesha’s ability to connect with students and the community members who frequent RVC is unmatched. I believe she should be recognized and celebrated for the superhero she is.
Name: Laura Haga and Kelli Albert
Core Values: Collaboration
Reason: The Business Department would like to recognize Laura Haga from the bookstore and Kelli Albert from Financial Aid for being such amazing partners. Laura and Kelli recently both went out of their way to help one of our instructors with a complex student-related issue. It is so amazing to work with partners who are laser-focused on student support and student success. Thank you both for your care, attention and dedication to student success here at RCC!!
Name: Angel McCauley
Core Values: Integrity; Collaboration; Sustainability; Courage
Reason: Angel carries a huge workload at the start of fall term, processing millions of dollars in scholarships and loans on behalf of students. Sometimes late awards come in from RCC foundations, and Angel takes it in stride to still try to get these funds to students as soon as possible. Thank you, Angel, for your efficient and diligent work to get these funds to students who need it.
Name: Laura Haga & CJ Ferrel
Core Values: Collaboration & Sustainability
Reason: Thank you Laura for being there for the Business Office with your quick responses, and helping things to stay flowing during harder times in the Shipping & Receiving office! I know it’s busy, and you are short-staffed at times, but I really do appreciate you! CJ – thanks for your help with all the things as well, making sure our mail gets picked up, delivered and always with a hello and a smile! Appreciate you!
Name: Elizabeth Butler, Analisa Gifford, Natalie Coppedge, Barbara Wicks, Laurie Taylor, Bernyne Wright, Melissa, Laura Haga, Melissa Weast
Core Values: Collaboration
Reason: Elizabeth took my wild idea of cleaning, streamlining and automating the nursing website and application processes to the next level. What started as a big idea is now a REAL THING and ready for our next round of nursing applicants coming Dec. 1! I also want to thank Student Records (Analisa, Natalie and Barbara), Advising (Laurie), Financial Aid (Bernyne), Smartsheet expertise (Laura Haga) and Program Support (Melissa) for constantly helping with the “whatabouts” and catching errors/inconsistencies before we published to the public. It was a huge project and I can’t believe that we just may have pulled it off!!
Name: RWC student employee computer lab aides in Coates Hall
Core Values: Collaboration; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Reason: I would like to recognize our RWC evening student employee computer lab aides for the exceptional support they consistently provide to pre-college students. For many of our learners, logging on to a computer or navigating their RCC accounts for the first time can feel intimidating. The lab aides meet every student with patience, positivity and a genuine willingness to help. They take the time to walk students through each step, answer questions without judgment and create an environment where learners feel safe to try, make mistakes and build confidence. Their friendly demeanor and quick problem-solving turn what could be a frustrating barrier into an empowering moment for students. Their presence truly strengthens our learning community and their collaborative, student-centered approach makes a meaningful difference every evening.
If you would like to recognize a colleague for excellence and reflecting our core values, please complete this form. If you are feeling shy, not to worry, you can remain anonymous.
