RCC Launches Pre-Dental Hygiene Course to Support Student Success

Jackson and Josephine counties (Aug. 4, 2025) — Rogue Community College (RCC) is expanding opportunities for students interested in dental careers with the launch of a new online course this fall and upcoming information session for its Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs.

New Course Launches Fall Term: DH100 Pre-Dental Hygiene
Beginning fall term, RCC will offer DH100 Pre-Dental Hygiene, an online course designed to introduce students to foundational concepts in dental hygiene. Students will learn basic dental terminology, how to assess a patient’s oral health needs and how to plan appropriate dental hygiene treatments.

Completion of the course can strengthen applications to RCC’s competitive dental programs. Students who complete DH100 will receive additional points on their program application:

  • 5 points for an A grade
  • 3 points for a B
  • 1 point for a C

Dental Assisting Program Application Deadline Approaching
Applications are now open through Aug. 15 for the fall 2025 cohort of RCC’s Dental Assisting certificate program, a four-term program that runs fall through summer.

Attendance at an information session is required as part of the application process. The next session will be held Wednesday, Aug. 6 at noon via Zoom. Details are available at roguecc.edu/dental.

Dental Hygiene Applications Open in January 2026
RCC’s Dental Hygiene associate degree program is a two-year limited-entry program. Applications for the fall 2026 cohort will open in January. Students must complete at least 44 credits of prerequisites before applying.
