GRANTS PASS, Oregon (Aug. 14, 2025) — Rogue Community College (RCC) announces the grand opening of the newly renovated E Building at its Redwood Campus, which will significantly expand allied health training opportunities in Josephine County.
The grand opening begins at 10 a.m. August 26 outside of E Building on the west side of the Student Center. Following opening remarks and a ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests are invited to explore the newly remodeled building and meet instructors from RCC’s Allied Health programs.
The celebration kicks off a campus-wide open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Redwood Campus is located at 3345 Redwood Highway. The closest parking to the E Building is near the Rogue Auditorium. Attendees can take the college’s east entrance off Redwood Highway onto Demaray Drive and then follow College Drive to the end.
Constructed in 1981, the 9,894-square-foot E Building was completely renovated this year to support RCC’s growing Allied Health programs. Beginning this fall, the Redwood Campus will offer four healthcare training programs: dental assisting, medical assisting, nursing assistant and phlebotomy. For several years, most of RCC’s healthcare professions programs have been offered exclusively at the Table Rock Campus in White City, with limited offerings held in temporary spaces at Redwood Campus.
“This renovation brings new opportunities for students in Josephine County to prepare for in-demand careers in the healthcare field,” said Dave Koehler, RCC provost and vice president of Student Learning & Success. “The updated space is well-organized, comfortable and designed to support high-quality, hands-on training.”
The $3.95 million remodel included completely new electrical, plumbing, HVAC and mechanical systems, as well as ADA improvements, including a new sidewalk and ramp. E Building—more formally, Elk Building—hosted science classes until 2022 when RCC opened its new Redwood Campus science center, the Owyhee (O) Building.
The renovation was made possible through $3.615 million in congressional appropriations funding, secured with the support of U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden.
“We are honored to have this project included in the bill’s strategic investments to help Oregonians build economic resiliency and healthier communities,” said RCC President Randy Weber. “We are deeply grateful to Senators Merkley and Wyden for championing this investment in healthcare education for our region.”
During the open house, guests can explore the Redwood Campus and learn about RCC’s academic programs, high-tech learning environments and student support services—including help with admissions, registration and financial aid. Visit RCC’s Open House page or details.
Open house events are also planned at:
- Riverside Campus in Medford: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 19
- Table Rock Campus in White City: 3–7 p.m. on August 21
