Rogue Community College Honors Trans Day of Resilience and Remembrance

Jackson and Josephine counties (Nov. 17, 2023) – Gather with the community at Rogue Community College (RCC) on the Trans Day of Resilience and Remembrance to honor trans and gender-diverse lives that have been lost. There will be a celebration of the resilience, joy and brilliance that is part of being trans or gender-diverse.

The event will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19 from 1-4 p.m. at the RCC Student Center at the Redwood campus (3345 Redwood Highway, Grants Pass). It is sponsored by RCC’s Rainbow Club and several other community organizations.

The celebration will be an open-mic and potluck event. There will be a collective altar built to honor the trans and gender-diverse people who have been lost. Event attendees are invited to bring an object or photo that represents their loved ones, as well as a dish for the potluck.

Participants can share stories, poems or songs related to the people they have lost or offer messages of hope and support to the trans community. Allies are welcome.
