This fall, Rogue Community College is taking recognition to the next level by joining the League for Innovation’s Excellence Awards, a prestigious national recognition program open only to League member colleges.
You may already be familiar with the League’s Innovation of the Year Awards, which RCC participates in each spring and celebrates during Spring Inservice. The Excellence Awards are different. They honor employees whose work exemplifies outstanding teaching or leadership, and they follow a national timeline established by the League. Because that schedule unfolds earlier in the academic year, this award will run on a separate fall timeline rather than as part of our spring awards nomination process.
Linking Excellence to RCC’s College Priorities
Each fall at Kickoff, President Weber shares RCC’s College Priorities (sometimes referred to as the “Big 5”) — focused annual goals that move our seven-year strategic plan forward. Even as these priorities are introduced, many of our employees are already doing meaningful work that brings them to life.
We are leveraging the Excellence Awards as a way to recognize and celebrate those efforts early, shining a light on the individuals who are leading the way or finding innovative ways to align their work with the “Big 5” priorities. As we celebrate recipients in winter and spring, their stories will help illustrate what it looks like to engage deeply with these priorities and demonstrate excellence that advances our mission.
About the Awards
- RCC will select two award winners each year: one for Teaching Excellence and one for Leadership Excellence.
- Excellence in teaching may be demonstrated through practices that inspire learning, foster student success and create meaningful educational experiences, and may come from any instructional activity.
- Leadership at RCC is not confined to those in formal positions and may come from any employee group. Leadership at RCC may be demonstrated through initiative, collaboration, innovation, mentorship, advocacy, operational excellence or other meaningful contributions that advance the mission and effectiveness of the college.
- Winners will be celebrated locally during Employee Appreciation Week and the Spring Inservice. They will also be nationally recognized by the League for Innovation, including an invitation to attend the League’s annual conference.
- Nominations close on Nov. 10, 2025. Final selections will be made in November by RCC’s Executive Team, with our honorees submitted to the League shortly after.
