New TRIO EOC Transition Specialist: Mikala Kirdik

TRIO EOC is pleased to announce a new transition specialist at the Riverside Campus, Mikala Kirdik.

An Oregon native who has been slowly making her way down I-5, Mikala grew up in the Columbia Gorge and attended community college in Bend and Portland. Soon after, she transferred to Western Oregon University and became the first person in her family to obtain a college degree! She started working as a direct support professional and realized she enjoyed helping people reach their goals and advocate for themselves.

After graduating, Mikala joined the Corvallis School District. She primarily worked with alternative education students and special education. She then attended Bushnell University to get her master’s degree. She taught middle school English for three years before heading further south down I-5, which landed her at RCC.

Mikala feels lucky to be part of such a kind and determined team. Her passion is to help people overcome barriers to reach their dreams. When she’s not working, she enjoys cooking, playing volleyball and painting.

Mikala is located in Rogue Central on the Riverside Campus. Stop by and say hi!
