RCC has established Campus Security Dispatch to provide a single, consistent
point of contact for Campus Security across the College.

Rather than trying to determine which officer is working, where an officer is located, or which campus number to call, employees and students can now use one number. Dispatch receives the call, gathers the necessary information, and coordinates the appropriate Campus Security response.
Dispatch can assist with safety concerns, suspicious activity, building and door access issues, requests for Campus Security assistance, lost or found property, welfare concerns, and other security-related matters.
For emergencies requiring immediate police, fire, or medical response, call 911 first, then notify Campus Security when it is safe and practical to do so.
Why Dispatch?
As RCC’s Campus Security operations have grown, so has the need for a more coordinated way to manage calls for service.
Centralized Dispatch helps Campus Security coordinate officers and resources across RCC locations, document calls for service, identify recurring concerns and trends, and better understand where security resources are needed.
During emergencies and significant incidents, Dispatch also provides an important communications link between the person reporting the situation, responding Campus Security Officers, supervisors, and other resources.
When You Call, Tell Us Where You Are First
When contacting Campus Security, start by telling Dispatch where you are and
what is happening.
Whenever possible, provide:
- Where you are: campus, building, room, parking lot, or other specific location.
- What is happening: briefly explain why you are calling.
- Whether anyone is in immediate danger or needs medical assistance.
- A description of the person, vehicle, or situation, when applicable.
- Your name and callback number, in case Dispatch needs additional information.
For example:
“I’m at Redwood Campus, Coates Hall, Room 12. I need Campus Security because…”
Giving your location first is important. If the call is disconnected or the situation changes quickly, Dispatch already knows where assistance may be needed.
