Governor Kotek Visits Rogue Community College

Jackson County (Oct. 9, 2023) — As part of Governor Tina Kotek’s One Oregon Listening Tour, Kotek toured Rogue Community College’s (RCC) Table Rock Campus in White City on Friday, Oct. 6.

Governor Kotek’s One Oregon Listening Tour is comprised of her commitment to visiting every county in Oregon in her first year in office and building strong, working partnerships across our state. These efforts focus on housing, mental health and addiction care, and education.

Governor Kotek spent an hour at RCC’s Table Rock Campus (TRC) where she was provided information, demonstrations and a walking tour of RCC’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Simulation Lab, Health Professions Center (HPC), high-fidelity Nursing Simulation Lab and Allied Health programs.

“This was a great opportunity to show Governor Kotek how RCC is preparing the future workforce and supporting local industry in these high-demand fields,” said RCC President Randy Weber. “We appreciate the governor’s priority of education, and the time she took to visit with us and learn about our innovative approach, as well as the positive impact we’re producing for the region’s education and economy.”

The Health Professions Center and High Tech Center on RCC’s Table Rock campus are designed to promote professional and skills-based learning with the newest technology in a collaborative learning environment for students, the community, and business partners. RCC works with local industry to create an educational experience similar to what students will encounter in the workplace.

“I had a great visit to RCC—a community asset with tremendous educators, state-of-the-art learning environments, and programs that meet the needs of students and regional employers,” Governor Kotek said.

Also in attendance for the walking tour was Oregon State Representative Pam Marsh as well as representatives from RCC’s community partners: Rogue Workforce Partnership Executive Director Heather Stafford and Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development Inc.’s Business Development Loan Manager Terrill Roper.
