Please welcome Karla Benitez-Sanchez as our new Human Resources Generalist! She will be primarily at the Redwood Campus, and later at the Table Rock Campus.
Karla was born in Southern California but raised in Southern Oregon for most of her life. She attended the University of Oregon for two years before transferring to SOU, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in international studies and minors in French and Spanish. During her undergrad studies, she spent a year abroad in Lyon, France, which was a very transformative year for her in both her personal and professional goals.
While working, Karla attended SOU as a graduate student and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in human resources. It was during these studies that she discovered her passion for human resources, especially in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion. She has worked in various HR roles including recruiting assistant, human resources generalist, compensation analyst and compensation supervisor. She is excited to bring her current skills and knowledge to RCC while continuing to learn and broaden her professional development.
Karla enjoys traveling, reading, listening to music, collecting vinyl records and spending time with her family. As an avid animal lover, she has always wanted to open an animal shelter to help those that are neglected and abused. Her son, Elias, keeps Karla and her husband on their toes. While exhausting at times, they wouldn’t have it any other way. Nightly dance parties are a non-negotiable part of the toddler bedtime routine. Karla is looking forward to being a part of and contributing to the culture and community that is RCC.
