As faculty work to meet updated Title II accessibility requirements, creating accessible course materials is increasingly important. We learned of an impressive image conversion tool this week that is designed to create accessible alt text for infographics and specifically for handwritten math and science equations.
Image Accessibility Creator, an image interpreter developed at the University of Arizona, analyzes the image and not only reproduces the information, but also attempts to explain it. A “Long Description,” “Alt Text” and “Transcribed Text” are provided.
It does other tricks too: Question generator, rubric generator and a “Clip Gist,” which summarizes short videos.
It is as free as the dad jokes in Navarro’s office and as intuitive as it gets!
Panorama: For staff who would like access to Panorama but do NOT have access to Adobe Pro or an Ultra shell, please contact Liz Butler here to request Panorama Access.
Give both of these tools a whirl.
For any questions about these tools or accessibility, please reach out to Andrew Childress, coordinator of Access & Disability Resources.
